Cheers to a New Year and Excitement for 2021

For most of us, this past year has been like no other with challenges to both our home and work lives. In many respects, I think that it has helped us realize what is truly important which is keeping our family healthy and happy. For those of us that suffered family or friend losses, our collective sympathy is with you.

Work challenges were abundant including telemedicine, which was new for some of us, as well as covering areas of direct Covid care and even L&D. Your commitment to doing what it takes so that the collective would benefit is compelling. This year has taught us how critical collaboration, respect and kindness are during these trying times both individually and as a society.

In addition to all the AUGS programs and services that you have come to expect and rely on, I am excited to share that AUGS will launch new initiatives in 2021 that will enrich all members. Highlights include:

  • Implementation of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness Action Plan developed by the DEI Task Force
  • Development of a State of the Science Conference on OAB and Cognitive Function
  • Launch of an Early Career Research Leadership Program
  • Release of the 2019-2020 Salary Survey
  • Continued refinement and expansion of ACQUIRE
  • Creation of the FPMRS Fellows Lecture Series launching in January

And last, but not least, I am holding onto the hope that we will be able to see each other "for real" at PFD Week in October 2021.

In the year to come, we also have some exciting plans to expand the mission of the PFD Research Foundation, AUGS' official Foundation, beyond funding of research grants. If you have not yet contributed to the Foundation there is still time. Just click here to donate - no amount is too small! Donate by December 31st and qualify for a last minute tax deduction!

As we head into another long weekend of family and football, I wish only the best for you and your families in the year ahead. I am proud to lead us all into what I hope is a healthy and productive 2021.

Sincerely,

Holly
