Diabetes and Diabetic Uropathy Symposium

The Duke Division of Urology/Department of Surgery, the American Diabetes Association, the American Urological Association, Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction, and the Society for Pelvic Research have partnered for a 2-day cross-disciplinary symposium designed to enable participants to forge new interdisciplinary synergies and collaborations across diabetes research, including a focus on uropathic consequences.

The Duke Division of Urology/Department of Surgery, the American Diabetes Association, the American Urological Association, Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction, and the Society for Pelvic Research have partnered for a 2-day cross-disciplinary symposium designed to enable participants to forge new interdisciplinary synergies and collaborations across diabetes research, including a focus on uropathic consequences.  It will include clinical sessions on general aspects of diabetes as a disease, and the effect of diabetes on cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, sexual function, and cancer, as well as the urogenital system.  The basic science/translational components will cover diabetic animal models and diabetes-related urogenital research topics; including inflammasome, bladder, urethral, urothelial, prostate and sexual functions, and diabetes and urologic cancer.  This meeting has been spearheaded by Duke Urology, and also includes Dr. Jennifer Green MD from the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition/Department of Medicine.  The speaker lineup comprises internationally recognized experts in their respective fields.
