Helping patients understand their diagnoses and treatment options is of critical importance. Use the following resources to educate patients and their caregivers.
VoicesforPFD.org
VoicesforPFD.org is a website and online community developed by AUGS to educate patients and caregivers about pelvic floor disorders, and to create a unique space for women to connect with other patients.
Voices for PFD YouTube Channel
The Voices for PFD YouTube Channel hosts a variety of educational videos for patients. The content includes informational and instructional videos on pelvic floor disorders created by AUGS members.
Patient Fact Sheets
Provide your patients with fact sheets that clarify complicated topics. Fact sheets are available on the following topics: Constipation, Mid-Urethral Sling for Stress Incontinence, Overactive Bladder/Urge Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Organ Prolapse, Stress Urinary Incontinence, and Urodynamics. Both English and Spanish versions are available for most fact sheets.
POP-Q Tool
The POP-Q Interactive Assessment Tool is a flexible application that will help you visually demonstrate pelvic floor exam results to your patients.
This application was developed by Jocelyn Fitzgerald, MD; Katherine Woodburn, MD, and Olivia Cardenas-Trowers, MD and is being shared as a resource through AUGS. Included in the application are product descriptions of mesh color, size, design, and attachment points. Health care providers of all experience levels can use this free application for educational and clinical purposes to better understand patients' histories, improve preoperative planning, and enhance patient counseling.
Urinary Incontinence Screening
The University of Wisconsin Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s WI-INTUIT program developed resources and descriptions of materials needed for your practice to launch urinary incontinence (UI) screening and treatment.
This book will provide patients with answers to important pelvic floor-related questions, help prepare them for the expected and unexpected, and offer a list of invaluable tips and resources.
Risk Calculators
Cleveland Clinic offers several risk calculators that can help you predict adverse events when treating your patients.
