Dear Colleagues,
As we approach the holidays and I end my term as President, I want to share with you some of the accomplishments of AUGS during the last 14 months. I know that AUGS is in very capable hands and look forward to Dr. Cate Bradley’s continued leadership in 2023. I also want to thank the current AUGS board and our wonderful staff who I have worked closely with over the last year.
Highlights
- Renamed the Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery journal to Urogynecology to better align with the subspecialty
- Launched the Urogynecology Early Career Peer Reviewer Academy to develop the next generation of reviewers to ensure the journal continues to grow
- Published seven clinical documents, with 17 scheduled for a 2023 publication date
- Finalized the development of a Research Agenda, to be published in 2023, that identifies research gaps and priorities in pelvic organ prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections, sexual function and PFDs, fecal incontinence, lower urinary tract symptoms, and Bladder Pain Syndrome/Interstitial Cystitis and Myofascial Pelvic Pain
- Published our first patient-focused book designed for pregnant and postpartum women, entitled Pelvic Floor Health: Your Guide to Pregnancy and Postpartum Care
- Launched the new AUGS Online Community that allows our members to stay connected in between meetings (there are nearly 700 members already engaged)
- Continued to deliver robust educational opportunities including hosting: a joint scientific meeting with IUGA, the highest attended Advanced Practice Provider Course, our third annual Clinical Meeting, a Fundamentals of Urogynecology Course and not to mention 12 live webinars.
- The Foundation launched the ABLE Initiative in 2021 and supported the first ABLE Scholar Travel Award in 2022
Finally, and most importantly, I’d like to thank you, our members, my colleagues, and friends for your contributions and support. This year we had more than 250 member volunteers participate in committees, workgroups, and writing groups. Thank you for working hard every day to continue to advance patient care as you continue to make the subspeciality grow and thrive.
